On February 15, 2016, the day after Valentine’s Day, was a day that changed our lives forever. This is the
day we lost our beloved daughter, Karimah and precious granddaughter, Amaya in a car accident.
Karimah was 24 years old, she died 9 days before her birthday. Amaya had just turned 4 years old the
prior month. We celebrated her birthday at Disneyland. She was so happy because it was her first time
there. That was our last family vacation with them.
We did not have life insurance on either of them because we never thought that we would out live our
children or grandchildren. The funeral expenses were staggering. When a family faces this type of
tragedy, the last thing they want to worry about is the expense of giving their family members a proper
burial. We were fortunate to have family, friends, and co-workers that helped us with the expenses, but
we understand that not everyone is that fortunate. It breaks our hearts to see families having to do car
washes or take out loans to pay for funeral expenses for their loved ones. We wanted to create a charity
that will assist families during this terrible time.
Karimah means “Generous” in Arabic. Although our daughter’s life was short, she lived up to her name.
She embodied the spirit of generosity. Even in death, she still gave to others by being an organ donor.
We wanted to honor her and create this charity as a legacy to her life. We want to be there for families
the way others were there for us. We hope you never need our services, but if you find yourself having
